Nearly 20 years since the release of Metroid Prime 3, 8 years after the first teaser, and an additional 9 months after the first reveal we finally have a deeper look at gameplay for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. That's a very long time between direct sequels for such a beloved and popular title. While it'd be far more bizarre for Nintendo to go that long between releasing a new mainline Zelda or Mario game, this is still way overdue.

This reveal comes as part of the initial phase of this years Nintendo Direct, mainly focused around releases and news related to the current Nintendo Switch. So it's safe to assume that Metroid Prime 4 will be released on both consoles, with the Switch 2 version having at least a graphical edge. But then that begs the question, are we seeing Switch 1 gameplay? It honestly is kind of hard to tell. And I think that might provide the answer.

Details are limited as of writing, but coming April 2nd the Switch 2 portion of this years Nintendo Direct is going to (hopefully) hold the answers to many of the questions we have about the brand new console, and how these new games, like Metroid, are going to play their role in the new consoles launch.

Be sure to stop by next week for a deeper look into what we're all likely the most curious about; The Switch 2, its hardware features, and how it'll apply to the next generation of Nintendo gaming.
