We all wanted to be taken a little more seriously when we were kids. And sometimes that longing to grow up means pretending to be an adult. In Moonrise Kingdom, Sam and Suzy just took it farther than most kids, but ultimately they were still just playing house. Their beachside campsite was their attempt at escape, and creating their own new family and home for themselves. To me this scene captures the entire theme of the film in one shot.
